Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our forward-thinking team of Dietitians at Salisbury District Hospital. You will be working alongside the Macmillan Lead Dietitian in the provision and development of services for those receiving oncological care at the hospital, both in inpatient and outpatient settings. Alongside a varied oncology caseload, you will take the lead on the management of our head and neck cancer patients, ensuring high-quality and seamless dietetic care.
This post would suit an individual with excellent communication skills, to be able to advise patients at a very sensitive time in their lives, and to be able to integrate within various multidisciplinary teams whilst remaining a strong advocate for nutrition.
Applications would be accepted from both experienced dietitians and those developing their expertise who have a particular interest in oncology.
Salisbury has an award-winning long term tube feeding service which is Dietitian-led. If interested, you can be trained in extended practices such as balloon volume checks for balloon gastrostomies, amongst other things.
This dietetic service takes student placements and this post-holder would be expected to provide supervision for students and junior staff as required.
Main duties of the job
To work collaboratively with the Macmillan Lead Dietitian in the provision of a specialist dietetic service for oncology patients and their carers across a range of oncological specialties and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
To contribute towards the continual development of the oncology dietetic service.
