Job summary

The Orthopaedic, Spinal and Fracture Clinic Outpatient Team are looking for an enthusiastic and hardworking part time Registered Nurse to join our welcoming team within our busy department.

As a team were are focused on providing professional excellence in high quality patient centred holistic care and we are looking for someone who shares this vision and value.

The post holder will need to evidence their ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service which may entail staying late where clinics overrun.

As this is an extremely busy department, the post holder will be expected to work in all areas of the speciality which will include Fracture, Orthopaedic, Spinal, Telephone Fracture Clinic and Specialist Paediatric Clinics.

In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to develop casting skills to be able to undertake the BOA Casting Course at Stanmore Hospital (residential 6 week course) after a period of in-house training.

Following a period of orientation and induction in the department, the post holder may be required to co-ordinate the department and triage telephone inquires in the absence of the department sisters.

To be considered for shortlisting for this post and based on the essential criteria, the applicant must have a current NMC Registration and be willing to undertake a plastering course.

Main duties of the job

What we need from you:

  • Nursing Registration with the NMC (please do not apply if you have not yet obtained this)
  • NMC approved mentorship qualification.
  • Acute orthopaedic trauma experience and/or Emergency Department experience whereby you have cared for, or applied a cast to a patients limb.
  • Excellent clinical skills including sound wound care knowledge.
  • Completion of, or willingness to attend the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations Course to complete x-ray imaging request cards under direct delegation.
  • The role require the candidate to attend a 6 week residential course at Stanmore Hospital to be able to obtain the BOA Casting Course after a period of in-house training.
  • Commitment to providing excellent standards of care as well as promoting positive patient experiences and outcomes.
  • Supervise and support junior staff.
