An exciting opportunity has arisen and we are seeking a band 6/7 Critical Care Outreach nurse, you will be required to provide specialist advice and critical care skills to level 1, 2 and 3 patients and their families, irrespective of their location within the hospital.
You will be pivotal in influencing the quality of clinical care, by providing specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and experience, through assisting the multi-disciplinary teams in patient assessment, clinical decision making and treatment of level 1, 2 and 3 patients. The post holder will need to deliver a flexible programme of inter-professional; evidence based critical care education in line with the education strategy for the team. As a NMC registered nurse you will need to act as an autonomous, accountable practitioner working on their own initiative and in collaboration with all medical, nursing and allied health profession teams.
You will be reliable, trustworthy and uphold the Trust values and NMC code of professional standards of practice and behaviour. In addition to this you will be required to support a safe and timely Hospital at Night (H@N) service to patients, by co-ordinating, and contributing to, the clinical and operational work of the night team.
Main duties of the job
Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit into our long established Critical Care Outreach Team, which also incorporates the Hospital At Night Co-ordinator role.
Our CQC rated Outstanding Critical Care Services are looking for a proficient, enthusiastic and motivated Critical Care Nurse to join our experienced team of autonomous Critical Care Outreach practitioners. The successful candidate must be flexible and have an innovative approach to caring for the critically ill patient in a variety of settings across the Trust. You must have excellent clinical assessment skills and the ability to introduce change to develop and encourage evidence based nursing practice. You will work closely with Deputy Matron and Matron for Critical Care Services, working clinically and providing support and education to both medical and nursing staff within the Trust.
We are looking for individuals who hold a post registration intensive care qualification, experience of teaching and assessing, a BSc/BA in nursing or health related subject and at least 3 years Critical Care experience, having reached a minimum of band 6 in Critical Care.
This is a Band 6 or7 post dependent on experience. The Band 6 is developmental leading to Band 7, once essential criteria has been met.

Analytical- To act as an expert practitioner utilising advanced skills in clinical decision making, clinical assessment, and investigation, suggest differential diagnosis, treatment, planning and evaluation for care of the critically unwell or deteriorating patient, to improve patient outcomes and reduce further risk to health.- Manage complex ethical and professional issues, making informed judgements.
Planning and organisational- Provide clinical expertise to facilitate the safe and efficient intra-transfer of the critically unwell patient.- To attend and provide critical care expertise at trauma and cardiac arrest calls.- To provide expert clinical assistance to nursing and medial colleagues in the implementation and management of ward-based non-invasive ventilation.- To provide expert clinical assistance to nursing and medical colleagues in the management of tracheostomies and Laryngectomies.- To act as the Hospital at Night co-ordinator, prioritising and allocating the workload of the Hospital at Night Team.
