Job summary

The Post Holder is responsible for supporting, directing, guiding, and training staff in the Portering Services Department, whilst working alongside them as a member of the Team at operational level, moving patients, samples, and medical records across the Trust in a safe and efficient manner.

Effective working relationships with colleagues and Managers within Facilities and the whole organisation.

To communicate formally and informally with staff, patients, and visitors at varying levels within the Trust, to ensure day to day duties are performed to, and meet with,the required quality standards and Service Level Agreements.

A Team Leader is expected to be always courteous and maintain high standards of personal hygiene due to the physical nature of this post and the close contact with others.

Analytical and judgement skills.

To review staffing levels, tele tracking jobs and how busy the hospital is to ensure appropriate jobs are escalated so to aid patient flow.

Planning and Organisational skills

To act as part of the leadership team and to act as lead for 2 of: MLE record keeping, Rota's, annual leave records, management of attendance and return to work interviews.

Main duties of the job

You will also be expected to act as an appraiser for part of the portering team and carryout other administrative duties including payroll. You will also be expected to support the management team with the recruiting and retention of staff. The Post Holder will promote a positive Team culture within the Portering department and act as a representative for the department across the Trust.
