Radiology Clerical Officer/Booking Clerk

Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clerical officer to join the Radiology Admin team at Salisbury District Hospital.

We are looking for someone who can work either full-time or part-time hours to join a dynamic, friendly, and welcoming department.

The successful candidate will have good, up to date IT skills, will be able to work well within a team and has experience of working in an administration role, preferably within a health care environment. The successful candidate will provide a welcoming and care focused Appointment Booking system for the patients and different modalities within Radiology.

There may be a need to cover other duties associated with this role, ensuring patients that are referred to the Trust are correctly registered, adding referrals accurately and in a timely manner and allocated individual appointments, to help ensure no patients breach the national and local waiting time targets for Radiology investigations and procedures.

Main duties of the job

Communication and relationship skills

An excellent telephone manner, being able to answer non-clinical patient queries with support when required. At times dealing with sensitive phone calls from patients and relatives whilst maintaining acaring attitude. Ensuring that information is communicated clearly and promptly to all those who need to know in order to maintain an efficient Radiology service

Planning and Organisational skills

To be proactive in managing the associated Booking & Clerical Officer duties and other tasks required as necessary. Willingness to be able to alter work patterns during busy periods.

Key Working Relationship

Responsible to the Administration Manager, reporting in via the Admin Team Leader

Frequent contact, both verbal and written, with patients, general practitioners, referring hospitals and other multi-disciplinary team members. Frequent formal and informal communication with a range of staff members within the Radiology department and wider Trust.

Patient/Client Care

To provide a Patient care focused approach to appointment bookings, dealing with any sensitive situations with empathy and compassion.To understand a range of examinations undertaken by the Department including non-routine and to be able to communicate this effectively to a patient when required and necessary

Responsibilities for People or Training

Once fully trained you would be responsible for training any new members of staff that may join the department.
