An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 7 Senior Sister/Senior Charge Nurse to join our forward thinking and dynamic Critical Care Team.This is your chance to work within a successful and highly motivated team whilst delivering care to acutely unwell patients. We require a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse to support and work alongside the Matrons for Critical Care Services to provide strong leadership and continue to drive our (CQC rated) outstanding Critical Care Services forward.

The Salisbury District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Critical Care Services includes Intensive Care and High Dependency Unit (Radnor) the Critical Care Outreach Team (CCOT) and Hospital at Night Team, (H@NT). Our ICU is a general Critical Care Unit, which also supports the regional referral centres for burns, plastics and spinal cord injuries.

Main duties of the job

As a Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, you will take a key role in the daily management and leadership of the Intensive Care Unit, whilst continually looking for new and innovative ways of improving the service, the development of the team and the patients experience within your agreed budget.

As the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will support and work closely with the Matrons (Critical Care Services), ICU Deputy Matron and Clinical Leads for ICU and CCOT in providing strategic, professional and operational leadership across the Critical Care service and the wider organisation.

You will be required to routinely participate in the weekend surgical division staffing and operational rota.
