Job summary

Applications from newly qualified Clinical Psychologists are welcomed.

This is an exciting opportunity to support transformational change, quality improvements and patient experience for people receiving spinal cord injury care within the newly-established South West Spinal Cord Injury network.

We are looking for a Clinical Psychologist with experience in the field of clinical psychology as applied to physical health (acute & chronic illness, injury & disability) to support people with Spinal Cord Injury, their family and friends and the clinical teams caring for them across the South West, as part of a new model of care.

Main duties of the job

You will provide high-quality, patient-oriented Clinical Psychology service and clinical advice, from the point of diagnosis through to lifelong support, having a key role (with MDT colleagues) in ensuring seamless, co-ordinated and timely approach to care and rehabilitation.

You will use a high level of clinical expertise to provide support, education and training for medical, nursing and therapists' teams and other healthcare professionals involved in the direct patient care of people with a spinal cord injury, in any setting in the catchment area.

The work will include not only service delivery, planning, development and evaluation, but also clinical work with patients and their families; teaching; staff support; research, audit and clinical governance activities.

Based in Salisbury Spinal Injuries Centre, you will have the support of an established small Psychology team and extensive MDT, but your focus will be on the wider pathway (including patients that are not admitted to the Centre for any reason) and it is expected that much of your input will be delivered virtually/remotely. There may be a requirement for occasional travel across the region to see patients or teams face to face where clinically indicated.

The post is offered on a fulltime basis, but part-time /job-share options will be considered.
