We're looking for an enthusiasticRegistered Mental Health Nurse, Social WorkerorOccupational Therapistto jointhe Crisis and Home Treatment Service (CAHTS), embedded within the Bath, North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (BSW) Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), are looking for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to join us, based in Salisbury.

We work closely alongside and liaise with the Getting More Help Teams on supporting children, young people (CYP) and their families experiencing complex mental health needs.

Our CYP might be at risk of inpatient hospital admission or transitioning out of inpatient care; our role is to provide intensive, short-term support within the community. No two days are the same, with plenty of variety and autonomy in the role, and lots of opportunities for learning.

Main duties of the job

In CAHTS, we're committed to delivering a high quality, comprehensive mental health service for children, young people and their families who are experiencing additional mental health needs.

Children and Young people within our service are often experiencing an increased level of mental health needs, including exhibiting increased risk behaviours. Whilst this can sometimes feel daunting, we have a strong multi-disciplinary leadership team who are responsive to the needs of the team.

  • Support CYP and their families with psycho-social education
  • Provide practical support, drawing upon evidence-based interventions such as DBT informed coping skills, solution focused therapy, CBT or compassion focused therapy.
  • Liaison, advice and consultation with wider CAMHS, colleagues in Children Services and a range of external agencies such as Children's Social Care, Education and many more
  • Be responsible for the delivery of time limited, short term interventions to address emotional and mental health needs of young people in crisis, with the aim of reducing longer term mental health problems.

Despite the service's core hours being 9am-5pm, we occasionally request that you participate in a flexible working pattern within the team, to provide cover within the hours of 8am-8pm Monday-Friday, to meet the needs of our young people. The team operates 10am-6pm Saturday - Sunday and Bank Holidays.

You will also participate in covering the service's 24 hour on call service on a rota basis.
