The Adult Mental Health Team (AMHT), based in Abingdon, is excited to be recruiting a full time Support Worker to join our busy but rewarding community team on a full time basis.
We are an experienced AMHT. Our team is friendly, supportive, and committed to delivering high-quality care to individuals in the community. We work collaboratively to provide both short-term and long-term interventions, ensuring that every patient receives compassionate and person-centred support.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for dedicated Support Workers committed to high quality patient care.
- To provide support and give time to an allocated group of service users in order to promote their recovery and maintain them in a community environment helping them to build their own support network.
- To provide regular and practical support to service users in developing and managing independence and maintaining dignity and self-respect.
- To support service users to identify their needs and to assist other team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual care plans.
.A large part of your role will be to implement planned therapeutic interventions and activities, promoting independence, well-being and healthy life choices.
You should be able to demonstrate effective communication skills, both oral and written. You will need to be flexible, motivated and adaptable in a challenging environment.

The work is varied and interesting and there are many opportunities for career development. We will support you to complete the Care Certificate and encourage you to consider progression to Band 4 Nursing Associate through the Trust's Nurse associate training, with the option to do a shortened Registered Nurse (Band 5) education programme.
For those not interested in academic development, there are additional roles on the ward for specific issues such as Healthy Weight, Positive Behaviour Support, Peace Champion, Reducing Restrictive Practices, Infection prevention, etc.
Enhancements are payable and a Regional Secure Allowance is paid in addition to the annual salary.
