Assistant Psychologist

Job summary

We are seeking an Assistant Psychologist to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract in CAMHS in Buckinghamshire.

You will join a developing service supporting children and young people with complex needs from a mental health and neurodevelopmental perspective. Working as part of a small multidisciplinary team in Buckinghamshire, you will contribute to a wider programme across the Thames Valley (Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire).

This programme is led by Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and funded by NHS England as part of national work to improve support for children and young people with complex needs.

The service is built around the Framework for Integrated Care (FIC), which focuses on trauma-informed practice, strong partnership working across agencies, and developing shared clinical understanding with families and professionals.

In this role you will support clinical colleagues with psychological assessment, interventions and service activity. You will also contribute to multi-agency working, training and service development to help improve outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.

Main duties of the job

  1. To assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client's problems, under the supervision of a qualified professional psychologist.
  2. To assist with other staff to assess clients, and review their care in preparation for multi-disciplinary reviews.
  3. To assist in the development of psychologically based frameworks for the understanding of patient care across all settings where care takes place including in a community setting.
  4. To attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings, referral assessments and multi-agency meetings.
  5. In common with all clinical psychologists, to receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines where appropriate to gain teaching from other professionals.
  6. To gain wider experience of professional psychology within the NHS over and above that provided within the principal service area where the post holder is employed.
  7. To develop skills and competencies that assist in the delivery of current duties and identify own learning needs.
  8. To contribute to the training and support of other staff in psychological care.
  9. To undertake data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries, using IT and statistical programmes
