Are you looking for a new role in children's mental health?
We're seeking a Paediatric Liaison Support Worker to join our OSCA team in Children and Adolescent Mental Health. The Outreach team aims to support and engage children, young people and families with complex needs by means of individualised home and community treatment packages.
The post holder will work as part of a multidisciplinary team that offers a whole system approach to the short- and long-term management of mental illness that works across the whole CAMHS service with the OSCA team picking up the highest levels of need.
Service aims include:
- Reducing children and young people's vulnerability to mental health crisis
- Maximising children and young people's resilience
- Enabling children and young people with high levels of mental health need to be supported in their own homes or placements
- Offering choice to children, young people and their families and carers
- Avoiding inpatient admissions
- Reducing inpatient days
- Offering advice, support and supervision to systems supporting young people, such as addiction, adoption, Children's Care and youth offending services
Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of Crisis staff within the Bucks CAMHS OSCA team, you will be supported to:
Aim to speed up the process of assessments and discharges - able to collate pre-assessment information in order to significantly reduce the duration of time required by the Senior Mental Health Practitioner (SMHP) to complete Mental State Examination (MSE) and discharge plan.Liaise with Paediatrics and CAMHS - information sharing, liaising and answering queries. Can occasionally be liaising with other pathways within CAMHS such as Neuro or ED and patient may not always be open to Crisis. Liaison with social care, if required.Physical presence for CAMHS within the hospital to answer any queries nursing/medic staff have. Queries may include if a referral is required, process of referrals etc.
