Job summary
We are recruiting for a part-time SAS doctor to work atVaughan Thomas, an 18-bedded acute adult male inpatient ward based at the Warneford Hospital. You'll be working alongside an exceptional multi-disciplinary team (MDT) that has won an award for patient care and compassion.
Your role will involve 6 Programmed Activities with DCC: SPA ratio of 4:2. We offerclinical leadership opportunities, medical education and supervision to support your professional development. You will also be part of a rich trust wide specialty doctor network. The Trust is committed to high quality teaching and training for medical students, post graduate trainees in psychiatry, specialty doctors, students and other professionals and we work closely with the Psychiatric Department of the University of Oxford.
We are looking for doctors who have full GMC registration and at least four years of Postgraduate training, two of which are in the relevant specialty of this position.

Main duties of the job
Working alongside our consultants, Foundation Year and ST1-6 trainees, and a wider MDT your duties will involve:
- Day-to-day management of the inpatients on the wards. Including contribution to: ward-rounds, care and treatment review of patients, discharge planning meetings, and Mental Health Act managers or tribunal hearings.
- Liaison with other services, e.g. adult mental health teams, as required.
- Contributing to service development, clinical audit and quality improvement.
- Support the assessment and management of patients brought to the Health Based Place of Safety
- Providing timely written correspondence to relevant professionals documenting assessments, ongoing management, progress, and discharge summaries using Trust IT and clinical records system - training will be provided where needed.
- Work collaboratively with other agencies, liaison with staff from other teams such as Adult Community Mental Health Teams, Ashurst Ward Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, Crisis team and Patient Flow Team to manage smooth and timely transfer into and out of the ward.
