Job summary

Marlborough House, our 12-bedded General Adolescent Mental Health Unit in Swindon, is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary team on a part time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust's CAMHS inpatient services, supporting young people aged 12-18 with complex mental health needs.

You will play a key role in care planning, safeguarding, and supporting young people and their families during admission and discharge. Working closely with nurses, doctors, psychologists, and education staff, you will ensure holistic, person-centred care.

To be successful in this role, you must be a qualified and registered Social Worker with experience in children's services or mental health.

Main duties of the job

  • Assess social care needs of young people and carers under the Care Act 2014.
  • Evaluate mental capacity and act in best interests per the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Contribute to care plans with clear social care components.
  • Manage risk, including safeguarding and abuse concerns.
  • Apply for social care funding and work within budget constraints.
  • Provide advice and support to young people and families for informed decisions and timely discharge.
  • Collaborate with MDT and external agencies, including local authorities and community teams.
  • Prepare social circumstances reports for Mental Health Tribunals.
  • Promote social work values and maintain professional standards.
