We're looking for Healthcare Assistants to join Amber Ward in Aylesbury. Amber Ward is a mixed-gender inpatient mental health ward, providing assessment and treatment primarily for people over the age of 65 who are experiencing organic or functional mental health problems, including dementia and related behavioural challenges.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients on the ward and in their own homes, working independently with an allocated caseload and following agreed plans of care.
  • Carry out a range of clinical procedures and observations -- including venepuncture, cannulation, phlebotomy and medication support -- ensuring patient safety and dignity at all times.
  • Support effective communication with patients, families and colleagues, including those with complex communication needs, while maintaining confidentiality and accurate documentation.
  • Contribute to assessments, goal planning, risk documentation and equipment provision, ensuring resources are used efficiently and patients' wellbeing is consistently prioritised.
  • Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, reporting changes in patient condition promptly, promoting a safe ward environment and supporting new staff as required.
