We are looking for a full-time Senior Mental Health Practitioner - you may be a Nurse or Occupational Therapist who has experience in working with eating disorders - to come and join our specialist eating disorder team at Swindon Community Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
Swindon CAMHS is a multidisciplinary team; we are passionate about providing evidenced based care to young people and their families in the community, working in partnership with other agencies.
Your role will be within The Eating Disorders Service (TEDS), supporting young people and families/carers with eating disorders in the community.

We are a highly supportive team, committed to your supervision and development; there's a wide range of development available and you would have access to a full range of internal and external training opportunities to enhance your existing skills and develop new ones. For example, we can offer training around CBT-E / FT-AN.
Although you'd be based within TEDS, we'll offer you liaison and duty responsibilities so you can continue to work with children and young people with a variety of mental health conditions.
You will need to be able to travel to access different appointments within the community.
Main duties of the job
- Liaison and collaborative working with colleagues within the TEDS teams, but also with medical, nursing and dietetic colleagues in the general hospital in Swindon. This will include ensuring implementation of TEDS care plans for children and young people whilst on the wards in the hospital and providing advice to hospital staff.
- Undertake a care co-ordinator role for children and young people open to the team and work collaboratively with young people, their families and wider care team in the context of their environment.
- Providing effective assessment, planning and review of care needs using the CPA process.
- Establishing, maintaining and ending purposeful, therapeutic relationships with children and young people experiencing severe mental health difficulties.
- Using knowledge of psychological therapies, for example CBT, DBT and Solution Focused approaches.
- Providing time-limited intervention, identifying appropriate discharge goals and working positively with risk using own professional judgment and team processes.
You will participate in a flexible working pattern within the multi-disciplinary team to provide cover for a core working day 8am-8pm Monday-Friday and 10am-6pm Saturday -Sunday and Bank Holidays. The role includes covering the on call rota outside of these hours on a rota basis. We have a robust system of support available for out of hours and on call working through Team Manager and Psychiatry On Call colleagues.
