Are you an HCPC registered Psychologist seeking a new challenge?
We are looking for a part time CBT Therapist or Clinical Psychologist who is committed to supporting developing services as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This post would suit someone who is keen to develop their skills in the Getting More Help pathway.
You will be part of our Wiltshire Mental Health Service. The service is designed to provide young people with expert help from a single point of access, and is part of the wider multi-disciplinary Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
You will be joining the Getting More Help Pathway within Melksham CAMHS, a rapidly evolving service which is committed to adapting to meet diverse and challenging demands and to maintaining high quality specialist assessment and intervention whilst being mindful of throughput, innovation and efficiencies.
The Melksham CAMHS team is a supportive team with a particular focus on clinicians wellbeing. We understand that working in CAMHS can be challenging and therefore strive to ensure that clinicians are well supported. Teams managers work alongside clinicians to ensure that individual job plans are created to support clinicians in managing capacity of caseloads. We ensure that we celebrate our successes and acknowledge the hard work we do to support children and YP. There is a strong sense of team working and supporting one another.
There will be opportunities to develop clinical skills through ongoing training.
Main duties of the job
The appointed clinician will
- Work along side our multi-disciplinary team consisting of Nurses , Social Workers, Occupational Therapists , Family therapists , Psychologist and Consultant Psychiatrists.
- Deliver generic mental health assessments and risk assessments of children and young people. Depending on the needs of the YP this could either be on an urgent or routine basis.
- Working collaboratively with CYP families/other agencies you will develop holistic plans of cares which are evidence based.
- Hold a clinical caseload of children and young people who require a psychology/CBT intervention. You will be joining our psychology team and will also be expected to provide consultation/support to other members of the team to discuss possible CYP that may require a psychology intervention.

Essential
- Current registration with the HCPC as a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist OR A recorded/registered qualification in one of the following - nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts/drama therapy or a psychological therapy and further post graduate qualification training in evidence-based psychological therapies, including CBT, and significant experience working as a psychological therapy practitioner Accredited or able to demonstrate that you are now accreditable with the BABCP
- If HCPC registered, Doctoral level training in clinical / counseling psychology including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
Desirable
- Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.
Knowledge
Essential
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration
- Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups.
