Are you seeking a progressive Occupational Therapy role within Adult Mental Health?
The South Oxfordshire Older Adult Community Mental Health Team is looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our team on a full time basis. This post available to newly qualified or someone with ward experience post qualification
Our team covers a large geographical area In South Oxfordshire bordering Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Wiltshire and so is ideally placed for staff commuting from Swindon, Reading and Aylesbury.
Working under the support of more experienced clinicians you will have the opportunity to work with a caseload of patients with a variety of mental health problems both functional and organic.
You will learn how to complete full mental health assessments and collaboratively plan care with your patients. Additionally,you will have the opportunity to grow your skills in risk management.
Main duties of the job
As a newly qualified member of staff we offer a structured preceptorship programme to support your development through your first year of clinical work. We also offer professional supervision and development opportunities whether you are a Nurse or Occupational Therapist.
You will:
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to, assess, plan and implement patient specific programmes of care/interventions under the Community Mental HealthFramework, contributing to the continuous assessment of patients
- Undertake mental health assessments as part of the Duty process using your professional knowledge and skills and evidence based practice.
- Function effectively across a variety of environments (e.g. ward, department, homes etc.) involving changing and demanding conditions
- Use a comprehensive range of verbal and non-verbal communication tools to communicate effectively with patients, their carers and families and colleagues. This may include people who may have difficulties with understanding or communication
- Work in partnership with patients and carers to agree goals and treatment proposals, gaining valid informed consent where appropriate
