We are seeking a full time Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Clinician. You will be covering mainly the South of Oxfordshire with an expectation to cover the county of Oxfordshire according to need. Our Service is a community-based, forward thinking service. We deliver quality patient interventions to meet the needs of our service users. Our service works with women and birthing people at pre-conception, during pregnancy & postnatally where mental health concerns have been identified.

We are devoted to improving the outcomes for parents, babies and families by providing assessment and treatment of women and birthing people's needs. Our service provides perinatal care across the county of Oxfordshire and this role will cover across the county. It is therefore essential that you are able to travel to service user's homes and travel freely to meet the needs of the service so you should have access to a car for work purposes.

The office is based in Headington, but this is admin space. Our service covers the whole of Oxfordshire and clinical work is completed in patients homes and/or at AMHT clinical bases. Access to transport for business use is essential for the role.

Main duties of the job

• Responsibility for the clinical triage of patients who access Mental Health Services during pregnancy and up to the first-year post-partum. You will assess and discuss referrals/assessment for signposting on to the most appropriate service which may include follow up with the perinatal mental health team.
• Conduct social and health assessments involving assessment of risk within the support framework of the perinatal mental health team and in a location acceptable to the birth parent, usually via digital consultation or within the service user's own home, using the perinatal assessment document.
• Ensure that each assessment is conducted collaboratively in consultation/agreement with the birth parent and their carer, where available, and the assessment will be informed by the wider multidisciplinary team involved with the birth parent during the perinatal period, including, but not exclusively midwifery and health visiting.
• Be part of the teams duty system one day a week, making and receiving calls to and from professionals, service users and their families, whilst managing unexpected crisis calls to the team.
• Work closely with other services including health visitors and midwives to ensure we are working together to support our service users birth parents during the perinatal period.
