Job summary

This is an 8 PA consultant post in the Buckinghamshire CAMHS ADHD Clinic and Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team. It is a fixed term contract until December 2026 to cover the current consultant's maternity leave.

The post is based in Saffron House in High Wycombe with some work at other Trust sites including the Sue Nicholls Centre in Aylesbury.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be responsible for a caseload of young people requiring management of their ADHD. These will typically be cases where there is a higher level of complexity involved in the management of the young person. They will also provide 2 PAs of clinical input into the neurodevelopmental assessment pathway, completing 1 to 2 assessments a week and contributing to a weekly post-assessment MDT meeting.

In addition, they will provide clinical leadership in continuing to develop the ADHD Clinic model in partnership with relevant operational managers. They will contribute to group supervision of the non-medical prescribers. They will supervise an experienced staff grade doctor. There are opportunities for teaching medical students and resident doctors.

Essential

  • Eligibility for Section 12 (Mental Health Act 1983) Approval and Approved Clinician status.
  • Eligible for Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Registrar in a psychiatric speciality; OR within six months of achieving registration at the time of interview.

Desirable

  • Higher degree/diploma or equivalent in relevant field of medical or psychological studies
  • Higher specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in approved training post for a minimum of three years and/or previous consultant experience.
  • Sub-specialty or other specialist clinical training relevant to post.
  • Membership or Fellowship of The Royal College of Psychiatrists
