We have an exciting opportunity for a 15-month fixed term or secondment in our small, specialist, friendly team who are passionate about flexible working and skill development. This is open to both Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.

The Physical Disability Physiotherapy Service (PDPS) is a well-established and highly regarded specialist neuro-physiotherapy team within Oxfordshire. The service supports people living with long-term and complex neurological conditions in a community setting.

This position is based at Abingdon Community Hospital with hybrid working, including some working from home. The core service currently runs Monday to Friday; excluding Bank Holidays. The post holder will be expected to work predominantly in Southwest of Oxfordshire with some county-wide outreach work required, including within the Oxford City area. A valid UK driving license with access to a suitable vehicle for work purposes is essential. Regular supervision andInserviceTraining will be provided to support development.

The service strives to empower service users and their carers to make informed choices about their self-management. Comprehensive assessments are completed in various settings including home visits, clinics and by digital means.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist assessment and management of patients with long term neurological conditions in a community setting. This includes clinic, home visit and digital appointments. Supervision of junior members of the team. To recommend evidence-based intervention and to develop personalised treatment and management plans, with due regard for the client's physical and psychosocial needs, and the environment in which the care will be delivered.

To demonstrate highly developed handling skills for the assessment and treatment of clients. To demonstrate highly developed communication skills when working with clients, including those with cognitive or speech problems, language, or cultural differences and when dealing with sensitive or contentious issues.
