As a qualified Psychology graduate, the Oxford Brain Health Centre (BHC) offers a one-year FTC post as anAssistant Psychologist with potential to extend for an additional 6 months (two positions available, one in Abingdon and one in Witney). This is a clinical and research role working within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust with close links to Oxford University.
The Oxford Brain Health Centre (BHC) is a joint initiative between Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and Oxford University, established in 2020 and designed to bring memory clinics into the 21st century, empowering the diagnosis of dementia for both patients and clinicians. The BHC joint clinical-research service embeds research in clinical practice to increase access for patients and clinicians to high quality assessments and increase opportunities for patients and relatives to participate in research. The Department of Psychiatry has an international reputation for excellence.
The BHC offers a friendly, supportive and dedicated team environment. There will be lots of opportunities to be involved in combined clinical and research work which has a direct impact on the care that patients receive within memory clinic services.
The post holder will work within the BHC on Tuesdays each week. Other weekdays will be spent working within the CMHT Memory Clinics.
Main duties of the job
Some of the main duties and responsibilities include:
- Active involvement in the Community Mental Health Team Memory Clinics
- Support the work of the Community Mental Health Teams as appropriate
- Carry out administrative tasks e.g. completing patient related data in electronic recording systems including risk assessment and care planning, data and statistical analysis
- Undertake clinical assessments of people attending the Brain Health Centre for memory assessments under supervision of the BHC Clinical Coordinator and other relevant staff
- Support with duties such as audit, data collection, analysis and the production of reports for research projects
- Maintain high standards of clinical record keeping
