We are currently looking for with a Psychiatric Liaison Specialist Practitioner to join an experienced team offering 24/7 psychiatric assessments to the Horton and John Radcliffe emergency departments.

EDPS offer specialist assessments and discharge planning to patients aged 13 years and upwards attending with a broad spectrum of mental health presentations as well as self-harm. Using evidence based practice and leadership skills to optimise outcomes for patients and represent Oxford Health in the general health setting.

Main duties of the job

  • Timely and independent psychiatric assessments of patients to identify appropriate, evidence based, mental health treatment and support.
  • Effective risk assessment and mitigation.
  • Support and guidance to our OUH colleagues around suitable management of distress behaviour and agitation.
  • Liaison and referral to other services including secondary health care and third sector partners.
  • Development of collaborative discharge plans, designed to meet the individual needs of each patient
