Community Vaccinator - Abingdon - Part Time

Job summary

Please note this is a fixed term contract of 22.5 hours per week for a period of 12 months, to cover a career break.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a Community Vaccinator preferably with some immunisation experience to help deliver the School Aged Immunisation Programme in Primary, Secondary and Independent Schools as well as other community venues.

The ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the Service is essential, as is a willingness to explore alternative methods of immunisation delivery to reduce health inequalities in hard-to-reach groups.

The role offers a flexible working pattern, to meet service need, which will include weekend and evening working on occasion. Although you will work from your base you may be required to attend other areas of the county, if required, either to vaccinate in schools/community venues or attend promotional events to increase immunisation uptake.

You will be offered the opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills through regular training and study days and by working alongside experienced colleagues.

Previous experience of working in schools or other environments with children and young people is advantageous but not essential. This is a fast moving and very busy role so the ability to work well under pressure and to be a key team player is a must. We are looking for adaptable, flexible people with excellent skills who will enjoy working in a challenging and busy environment.

To ensure that vaccination sessions commence on time you may need to start at 07.30 on prearranged days and also be able to work evenings and weekends. The ability to be flexible with ones working pattern is therefore essential.
