Oxford Health is seeking a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Adult Community Mental Health team based in Witney. This role offers clinical leadership responsibilities and has arisen due to an internal promotion. This post is advertised as a full time post but we would welcome applications from candidates interested in part time roles.

We are committed to excellence in teaching and training across all levels--from medical students and psychiatry trainees to specialty doctors and other healthcare professionals. As a consultant, you will have the opportunity to provide direct clinical supervision and line management, with plenty of scope to develop your leadership and educational skills.

Join us in Oxford, home to the world's top-rated medical school (THES rankings), where Psychiatry is celebrated by students as the best specialty rotation. Oxford's medical graduates are among the most likely in the UK to choose Psychiatry as their first career--7%, the highest nationally.

At Oxford Health, we pride ourselves on being an innovative Foundation Trust that values Caring, Safety, and Excellence in everything we do. We invest in our people because outstanding care comes from outstanding individuals. Flexible working arrangements are supported to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.

Main duties of the job

With the changing circumstances of modern mental healthcare, the ability to adapt and demonstrate new ways of working is essential. You will have experience of working in General Adult Psychiatry and have great interpersonal skills working with colleagues to work collaboratively with our team managers, and to provide leadership and clinical expertise to our highly skilled and committed multidisciplinary teams.

You will provide senior medical input and clinical leadership to the community mental health team and will have responsibility for those patients seen by himself/herself, together with those patients seen by medical staff directly supervised by the post holder.

As a part of your role you will assess new routine, urgent and emergency referrals from other agencies alongside other clinicians, provide consultation to non-medical clinicians and offer ongoing management for patients requiring longer term care.
