Staff Nurse

The closing date is 18 May 2025

Job summary

Are you a highly motivated, enthusiastic and thoughtful nurse?

Can you support your Ward Manager and Medical team to provide excellent inpatient care for our patients and support your nursing colleagues along the way?

Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and proactive Staff Nurse to join our Acute Inpatient Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality, holistic mental health care within a dynamic and supportive multidisciplinary environment.

Ashurst ward is a 11-bedded male psychiatric intensive care unit. We are looking for an enthusiastic staff nurse with a caring, non-judgmental, and inclusive attitude, who is committed to the delivery of safe, quality care. Experience in an acute setting would be an advantage, but is not essential as we will provide you with all the training required.

As a Staff Nurse, you will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of a ward during your span of duty. You will deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care, assess and manage risk, and support patients on their journey toward recovery. Working closely with patients, families, carers, and the wider clinical team, you will be an advocate for positive mental health and patient empowerment.

Main duties of the job

Our team works hard to ensure high quality, patient centred care is at the heart of everything we do. You will be part of a motivated, supportive and cohesive multi-disciplinary Mental Health Team where your contribution is highly important. The team actively promotes a multi-disciplinary approach to the care coordination of our clients.

The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualised care plans.
  • Support the day-to-day running of the ward and lead shifts when required.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentoring to junior staff and students.
  • Promote safe discharge planning and continuity of care.
  • Engage with service evaluation and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
