Job summary

We are thrilled to offer a permanent opportunity to join the BANES CAMHS In Reach team as aLead Clinical Specialist (Placement Support Specialist).

In this rewarding role, you will provide specialist multi-agency consultation and support to carers, including foster carers, kinship carers, and special guardians, as well as the professionals who support them. You will lead therapeutic group work, facilitate staff reflective practice sessions, and deliver valuable training to both carers and social care teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert multi-agency consultation and support to carers and professionals working with children in care.
  • Lead and facilitate therapeutic group work and reflective practice for staff members.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions to carers and social care teams.
  • Collaborate closely with the Local Authority and multi-disciplinary partners, contributing to planning and review meetings.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong understanding of attachment theory, complex trauma, and therapeutic parenting.
  • Experience in delivering multi-agency consultation and training.
  • Proven experience working with children in care.
  • Excellent knowledge of CAMHS and local authority processes (preferred).
  • Ability to draw on a variety of theoretical models to inform practice.

Main duties of the job

As part of our specialist multi-disciplinary inreach team, which extends across BANES and Wiltshire, you will have many opportunities for shared learning and development. This role offers the chance to work autonomously while also benefiting from professional development and support from our team manager and clinical lead for inreach. You will be joining BSW CAMHS at an exciting time as we launch our CAMHS complex trauma pathway, with which this role is likely to have strong connections.

The position requires working 22.5 hours over three days, including Wednesdays and Thursdays to accommodate team meetings. We are awaiting confirmation of an increase to 30 hours over four days. The post holder will have the opportunity to work within the BANES CAMHS base (Keynsham) and BANES Local Authority Civic Centre, alongside remote working as agreed.
