We are recruiting for a Peer Support Worker to join Oxford Health Buckinghamshire CAMHS. This vacancy is an excellent opportunity for people with lived experience of mental health challenges.
As a Peer Support Worker you'll use your own lived experience of mental health challenges, drawing on empathy informed by your own experiences to support service users/families who are accessing mental health services.
The service you'll be supporting is Bucks ADHD CAMHS. We work with children, young people, and families where there has been a diagnosis of ADHD and have opted into medication . We are looking for a dynamic communicator who can offer peer support to children open to our service, through their lived experience of ASD, ADHD or as a parent/carer to those diagnosed.
As our Peer Support Worker, you will be supporting children at crucial points often when they maybe experiencing difficulties with their diagnosis and needing support in school and home to develop strategies that support them .

Main duties of the job
Your role will involve contacting parents where children have been referred to you by the ADHD clinic clinicians, explaining processes and offering peer support, guidance, and signposting.
Additionally, you will be involved in non-clinical duty calls to keep parents updated and will work with the team in producing a parent newsletter in collaboration with Article 12 (our young people's support group) family support worker in the clinic and peer support worker in the assessment team. This role may also involve liaising with school and children's social care therefore the ability to communicate across both family and professional setting is desirable.
The role is predominantly based in Sue Nicholls Centre, Aylesbury, with additional expectation to work from Saffron House, High Wycombe.
The ability to travel independently between sites within the Trust is essential for this role.
