Job summary

We are recruiting for an experienced, enthusiastic and innovative Senior Nurse or Allied Professional to lead our Resuscitation training team at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Warneford Hospital.

As our Senior Resuscitation Officer you'll lead, design, implement and deliver a range of educational programmes across the organisation in accordance with the delivery of our Trust strategy, vision, values and culture. You'll manage a team of expert trainers and be responsible for the design and delivery of all Resus training in accordance with statutory need which will include designing bespoke sessions for specific services, developing innovative simulation-based training and overseeing the running of Immediate Life Support programmes. You'll also lead on offering expert advice, debrief and feedback about care delivery, support equipment management and completing trust-wide audits.

This is a fantastic opportunity for qualified Nurse/AHP with a strong clinical background and experience in designing, developing and delivering resuscitation programmes to join us and make a difference to our mental health services.

Our Trust covers Mental Health and Community Services across Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Buckinghamshire; therefore the ability to travel freely between sites is essential for this role.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage the Resuscitation Team
  • Implementation and provision of advice on strategic responses to national initiatives e.g. relevant guidance and practice standards, Resuscitation Council (UK)
  • Responsibility for developing, implementing and monitoring the Trust Resuscitation Training Plan
  • Reviewing the strategic approach to Resuscitation training across the full trust geography
  • Coordination, supervision and monitoring the Resuscitation Team in its delivery of the Resuscitation Training Plan and programme of training
  • Lead the continued development of recognition of the deteriorating patient and resuscitation management
  • Work in partnership with Clinical Directors, Heads of Nursing and Matrons to ensure an optimal resuscitation service for patients and staff

Qualification

Essential

  • Current NMC, ODP or Paramedic registration, or equivalent professional qualification
  • Resuscitation Council UK Advanced Life Support (ALS) instructor and European Paediatric Advanced Life Support (EPALS) instructor with course director qualifications.
  • Generic Instructor Course (GIC) instructor qualification.

Desirable

  • Leadership, coaching or mentorship qualifications.

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

  • Experience in instructing on, and directing, national advanced resuscitation skills programmes (e.g In Education, Paediatrics and Adults)
  • Experience as a Senior Resuscitation Officer within NHS trust
  • Experience of conducting audit and analysing and presenting complex data
  • Experience of leading quality assurance programmes including developing robust audit for improvement e.g. Do Not Attempt Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Audit

Desirable

  • Experience / knowledge of Health and Safety issues
