Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Medical Secretary to join our City & South Learning Disability Community Team to work with our LD Medics in providing support to some of our most vulnerable people. This is a 6-month fixed term contract based at our Slade Site in Oxford, with some remote working.

You'll provide clinical administrative support to our Learning Disability Consultant Psychiatrists, specialty doctors and the Community Learning Disability Teams (CLDT), ensuring our clinicians are able to deliver the best possible care to our patients.

This role is integral to the team and you'll be supported by the Office Manager and other Team Administrators to ensure successful delivery of our services. You'll be liaising with people that have learning disabilities and their family/carers as well as other system partners to ensure that recommendations for treatment given by our medics are received so they can be implemented.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide clerical support to a Learning disability Consultant Psychiatrist(s) and specialty doctors and the Community Learning Disability teams (CLDT).
  • Co-ordinating consultant/team diary, typing reports/letters to GPs and other relevant people, registering referrals on the system, answering telephone calls, offering appointments and booking relevant clinic slots for both face to face and digital consultations, sending appointment reminders, capture clinical activity electronically, check and update patient demographic details, and support other CLDT support staff.
  • Contribute to improving the quality of our services and lead on initiatives that improve the efficiency of the Trust
  • Organise workload with the Consultants, Specialty Doctors and CLDT(s) and co- ordinate activities with other medical secretaries, support officers and administrators to ensure that an efficient service is provided.
