Main duties of the job

To be a Senior Occupational Therapist working autonomously, as a member of the Specialist Community Forensic multidisciplinary team, working across Oxfordshire and offering in-reach to the secure services inpatient setting.

To provide specialist Occupational Therapy interventions using evidence-based client cantered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate therapy with those service users within the SCFT.

To actively contribute to the development of the Occupational Therapy role and Occupational Therapy service provision according to identified needs of the multi-disciplinary team and service users needs.

The post holder will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the provision of care, therapeutic interventions and treatment to Thames Valley Forensic Services patients, ensuring the highest standards of care are provided. To ensure that services to patients and carers are delivered and developed according to Trust and Social and Healthcare departmental policies.

Essential

  • Qualified Occupational Therapist
  • Professional Registration with HCPC and Membership of RCOT professional body.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development

Desirable

  • Post-graduate education specifically relating to client group
  • Qualified to supervise students

Experience

Essential

  • To have substantial pot-qualification experience, minimum 2 years - which should include working with adults with mental health difficulties
  • To have experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team
  • To have experience of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults processes
  • To have experience of risk and needs assessments, and discharge planning
  • To have awareness of local and national policy frameworks relating to mental health and Occupational Therapy

  • To have experience of clinical work within a Forensic Mental Health setting
  • To have experience of working within the Criminal Justice framework
  • To have experience of supervising Students
