Job summary

Are you someone who has exceptional organisation skills is able to communicate well at all levels and has extensive experience of R&D submission processes for research studies including commercial studies?

We are looking for an experienced Research Coordinator to join our busy Research and Development team on a 4 year fixed-term contract.

Within this role you will facilitate and co-ordinate the set-up, initiation and monitoring/audit of all research studies within the Trust, in accordance with the relevant national and local regulatory frameworks, policies and procedures.

This role requires a good understanding of the regulatory and ethical requirements for the conduct of clinical research, especially the Research Governance Framework, Good Clinical Practice, and related guidance, in order to ensure delivery of authoritative advice to investigators and continued compliance with regulations and governance.

Main duties of the job

  • Liaise with clinical service leads to ensure that there is sufficient capacity and resource to carry out new research projects in the CRF
  • Ensure that all studies are initiated within the required timelines, developing and managing the Trust NIHR CRN portfolio studies, as well as monitoring its performance against national and local targets
  • Along with being responsible for the completion of local Trust governance checks to facilitate Trust participation thereby managing the Trust R&D research study approval system to ensure prompt and efficient processing of applications
  • Responsibility for national study-wide governance for mental health studies taking place in England to provide assurances to other NHS Trusts that appropriate approvals and governance checks have been undertaken
  • Champion the implementation of Research and Development Management Information System (RDMIS) for gaining NHS permission to conduct research studies - an NIHR CRN national electronic operating system to replace the current system called NIHR CSP
