Job summary

Main duties of the job

You will use your skills to deliver quality assessments and interventions and influence service improvements. You will have opportunities grow in your career and undertake continuing professional development.

You will be a vital member of the team helping the system to understand the complete identity of the young person including their neurodivergence, mental health and developmental profile.

You will also:

  • Lead on dynamic, holistic and evidence-based assessments to identify neurodevelopmental needs.
  • Contribute to multi-professional assessment and formulation of the needs of the child and young person.
  • Work closely with families and the education and social care systems to empower them to help the child / young person to reach their potential.
  • Assess and manage risk with a specialist understanding of how neurodivergence contributes and can complicate the presentation.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Caseload management/complex conditions and cases
  • Working knowledge of Autism, ADHD, Learning Disability.
  • Specific knowledge of Speech, Language, and communication needs for people with complex needs including, autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD, mental health difficulties, challenging behaviour.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Qualified Speech and Language Therapist.
  • Registered member of Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Skills

Essential

  • Evidence based, reflective practice and clinical reasoning skills in assessment and treatment.
  • Supervision of Registered & non-Registered staff
  • Effective communicator with clients, professional and staff Leadership skills

  • ADOS trained
