Job summary
Working with a small team of housekeepers and porters within the Wallingford Community Hospital, supported by the clinical team - providing portering and cleaning services to patients and staff.
Successful candidates will be reliable, flexible, and good team players who possess good interpersonal and communication skills and have previous experience of moving and Handling. The post is Part time - 15 hours per week, working Thursday and Fridays 7am-15.00pm.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be be responsible for receiving and checking food deliveries, checking delivery temperature and reporting discrepancies to head housekeeper.
You will be responsible for the recycling and collection of household waste/redundant furniture throughout the site and that it is stored appropriately prior to disposal.
You will ensure that the Hospital grounds are kept tidy and free of any hazards, ie removal of fallen leaves, pine cones and debris including removal of snow/ice from Hospital entrances, and grit where necessary.

The successful candidates will be providing a high-quality porter and cleaning service. The aim of this post is to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients and staff.
If you have a proven track record of being able to deliver a high-quality portering and cleaning service this could be the role for you and we want to hear from you!
To work as part of the Facilities team to provide a comprehensive porter service to across the Trust. Please see attached JD/PS for full duties.
- All new starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process, aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale
- Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
- Appointment to this post is subject to the trust receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment or study. Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.
- Employees are expected to undertake mandatory and statutory training related to their role.
