Job summary

Interventional Psychiatry Service in Oxfordare looking for a highly motivated, skilled, flexible nurse to join the team caring for patients receiving Ketamine Therapy and/or Electro-convulsive Therapy (ECT), repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation ( rTMS). This treatment is vital for patients suffering with treatment-resistant depression and can really make a different to their lives.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, driven team player, with excellent communication and organisational and IT skills to join our friendly team. The post holder will develop knowledge and skills across all three therapeutic areas: rTMS, ECT, ketamine.

The service currently provides:

  • ECT treatment on Tuesday and Friday mornings (2-10 patients)
  • Ketamine treatment to Oxfordshire patients on Tuesday and Friday (3-6 patients)
  • NHS Self-funded ketamine treatment on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (24 patients)
  • A recently initiated rTMS service at the SANE POWIC building

The Interventional Psychiatry suite is based at the Warneford Hospital, and it continues to develop and expand.

In this role, you will be working alongside the IPS Lead Nurse, IPS consultant, IPS doctors, anaesthetic team, wards, community staff as well as patient's and carers to ensure that patients receive an excellent standard of care.

We are interested in hearing from dual or Mental Health Registered Staff.

Main duties of the job

You will have a vital role in improving the lives of our Service Users (Adults, Older Adults and sometimes Adolescence) as you will be delivering high quality care for patients receiving treatments (Ketamine infusions, Electro-Convulsive Therapy, rTMS) for treatment resistant depression.

You will be leading care of Ketamine patients, and so will be responsible for the screening process, reviewing prior to doctors' assessment as well as assessing, planning, treating, monitoring, and evaluating their care.
