Job summary

We are looking for an Electronic Health Records (EHR) Systems Developer to join our Development Team. The role would be perfectly suited for a recent Computer Science graduate looking for experience within the field of systems development. We would also consider applicants educated to degree level in adjacent fields possessing programming knowledge; either academic or professional.

This role provides a great opportunity to get hands-on experience building forms, dashboards and reports for the users of the clinical systems used within Oxford Health, as well as learn how to configure and manage clinical systems.

Main duties of the job

Successful applicants will be working on both individual work packages as well as group projects; working with both clinical and technical experts to both design and implement solutions in clinical systems.

The key responsibilities of the EHR Systems Developer working as part of the Development Team are:

  • Develop forms, dashboards, reports and other functionality within clinical systems
  • Carry out system configuration tasks
  • Assist the identification of broad issues, best practice, and opportunities for further exploitation of the available technology
  • Keeping design and best practise documentation up-to-date
  • Work closely with the EHR Testing team to ensure the quality of the developed functionality
  • Liaise closely with the Transformation Team and provide technical advice
  • Liaise closely with the Clinical Applications Support Team to resolve issues raised by the end users quickly
  • Liaise with the supplier Service Desk and service management teams to ensure Oxford Health achieve issue resolution in a timely manner

Experience with front end development and development of Electronic Health Records systems is desirable, but not essential.

Written and spoken communication skills are vital for this role as you will be regularly required to interpret requirements and explain issues/solutions to a colleagues with a wide variety of technical knowledge.

  • All new starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process, aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale
  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
