An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in The Buckinghamshire Adult Community Eating Disorder Service, which is based at The Whiteleaf Centre, in Aylesbury.
This is a 1 FTE Consultant Psychiatry Post covering the county of Buckinghamshire. The adult Eating Disorder Team currently receives an average of 200-250 referrals per year and offers a range of interventions in line with NICE guidelines.
The Specialist Adult Eating Disorder Service in Buckinghamshire provides a stepped care, integrated multidisciplinary evidence-based treatment approach. There is a strong Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E) tradition, which was developed by Professor Christopher Fairburn in the Department of Psychiatry. We also offer other evidence-based treatments for eating disorders (e.g. MANTRA, SSCM).

Main duties of the job
Eating disorder services across the Trust work closely together, particularly the two community teams in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire and the inpatient and day service in Oxford.
The post is based at the Buckinghamshire Community Eating Disorders Service (Whiteleaf Centre, Aylesbury).

Dr Agnes Ayton is the inpatient consultant for Oxfordshire and is the current Chair of the Faculty of Eating Disorder.
The Service offers excellent opportunities for supervision, service development, service evaluation and research, teaching, and training.
We have good supervision and operational structures and an excellent track record of CPD. There are good links with Oxford University, with opportunities for teaching, research and offering placements to trainees. The Service is also committed to evidence-based and evidence generating practice and you will have the opportunity to be part of several service evaluation/improvement projects.

The post holder will provide senior medical input and clinical leadership to the Buckinghamshire Community Eating Disorder Service.
Medical responsibility for patients usually remains with the GP, except where a medical member of the team takes a patient on for continuing treatment (e.g. patients on CTO).
The post holder will have responsibility for those patients seen by himself/herself, together with those patients seen by medical staff directly supervised by the post holder.
The post holder will work alongside the team manager, Consultant Psychologist and Consultant Nurse and the other Consultant Psychiatrists in the team to ensure the effective functioning and development of the service.
The post holder will provide direct clinical supervision and line management to the trainees and specialty doctors and any senior trainee placed with the team.
This will include 1 hour per week clinical supervision for trainees and a pro rata equivalent level of supervision to specialty doctors- in conjunction with other consultants.
