CAMHS Clinical Psychologist - Link Programme
This job is now closed
Job summary
Are you a compassionate Clinical Psychologist, looking for a new role where you can be autonomous, creative, and daring?
Are you dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children and young people with complex needs?
The Link Programme is a Thames Valley wide initiative (Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire/Berkshire) designed to support our most vulnerable children and young people (CYP). These CYP have complex mental health/neurodevelopmental needs, experience some of the highest levels of health inequality in society and need a dedicated professional, who's not afraid to think outside the box, to support and engage them, to improve their life outcomes.
Our CYPs' complex needs are defined as such because they are:
- multiple (i.e. not just in one domain, such as mental & physical health);
- persistent (i.e. long term rather than transient, e.g. learning disability, autism or both);
- severe (i.e. not responding to standard interventions
- framed by family and social contexts (i.e. early family disruption/loss/inequality).
Known as the 'Framework for Integrated Care', we've been awarded national 'Vanguard' status, which means we're trailblazing this way of working - a focus on trauma-informed practice, cross agency working and achievement of consensus across professionals/family by clinical formulation.
This is a brand new service based in Buckinghamshire (in the soft launch phase) so you're going to have an incredible opportunity to shape how we practice; to make a real difference.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you'll be working with CYP who may have had difficulties with treatment options through the traditional CAMHS routes; we'll need you to provide direct assessment, develop highly specialised interventions, but also lead, train and guide other professionals in developing unique treatment plans. We are a small, close-knit team so there's plenty of support for you along the way.
You'll be co-located with a range of other services already working along the lines of the FIC frequently with young people with complex needs (CAMHS Crisis, Looked After and Adopted Children's team & Outreach). These services already have strong links with other teams across CAMHS, within children's social care, youth justice, education & the voluntary & community sector.
Delivering a high quality service to our CYP, their families and carers is key, so we'll need you to contribute to, and write up, multi-agency consultation and specialist assessments, support the Clinical Lead in service development and ongoing research, and lead in the collation of outcome data for research and service evaluation
We'll need you be flexible and adaptable, have excellent interpersonal/communication skills and high levels of resilience. We're looking for someone with a strong background experience of working with CYP with mental health difficulties/neurodevelopmental needs, in variety of different settings. This line of work is challenging, but extremely rewarding.
