Job summary

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a fulltime Assistant Clinical Psychologist in the Staff Psychology Service within the Occupational Health team. The Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trusts Occupational Health team plays a pivotal role in the health and wellbeing of all our colleagues. The Occupational Health team is a friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team committed to caring in a safe and excellent way to help achieve the ambition to be the best place to work.

The Staff Psychology Service is still a relatively new team. It was launched at the beginning of 2022 in response to a growing need to offer support to staff members with psychological difficulties related to experiences in the workplace and workplace incidents. For this post you will need to be adaptable and flexible, with excellent organisational skills and the ability to use your own initiative.

Main duties of the job

You will promote the psychological health and wellbeing of individual staff members accessing the service and also teams within the Trust. Under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist you will provide psychological assessment, interventions, evaluation of services and assist in clinically related administration including audits and research projects and teaching

As a new team, there will also be ample opportunity to contribute to the development, evaluation and monitoring of the team's operational policies and contribute to Trust-wide initiatives. You will work closely with colleagues within the Occupational Health team to provide specialist psychological advice and guidance, working autonomously to manage your own caseload whilst working as part of the wider multidisciplinary team.

As the Assistant Clinical Psychologist (AP) you be working within the staff psychology team under the supervision of a qualified professional to undertake protocol based psychological assessments of clients, and their therapy procedures. You will assist with the triage of all new referrals, supporting the psychological therapy staff within the team to review the clients problems and history of care provided to enable decision of treatment offer, and you will also maintain the required records.

As an AP you will need to employ excellent verbal and written communication skills in highly emotional and sometimes distressing circumstances, having due regard for the cultural and linguistic differences of our colleagues during interactions. You will be supported with supervision in accordance with professional practice guidelines.

The role will need you to attend and contribute to appropriate multi-disciplinary meetings both within the immediate Staff Psychology Service and wider Occupational Health team.

General duties will include undertaking data collection, analysis, the production of reports and summaries using IT and statistical programmes, this will include both audit and research projects. You will be encouraged to assist in the design and implementation of service development projects, creating and formatting databases and spreadsheets whilst dealing appropriately with sensitive and confidential information from the clinical team

  • An upper second-class honours degree or higher in psychology
  • Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society

Desirable

  • Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis

  • An understanding of psychology applied to health care
