We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join the Adult Community Eating Disorder (ACED) team in Oxford.
This is an exciting time for our team due to service developments and transformation. This post is based at the Warneford Hospital, Oxford, however, can involve offering support and interventions across Oxfordshire. The ACED team is a multi-disciplinary team including Psychologists, Therapists, Psychiatrists, Doctors, Dietitians, Nurses, Social Worker, Assistant Psychologists, Community Support Workers, and Administrators.
Our service provides a stepped-care model tailored to the needs of adults with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder as well as those with co-morbid mental health problems and their carers. We offer a range of evidence-based treatments for eating disorders and deliver these within the community.
We are moving towards the development of a life span service and have good links with colleagues in other eating disorder services and other adult mental health teams across oxford health NHS trust. The service offers excellent opportunities for supervision, and CPD (Clinical and Professional Development), as well as good links with Oxford University, and Oxford Brooks.
The service is committed to evidence-based and evidence generating practice and you will have the opportunity to be part of service evaluation research and Quality Improvement projects.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be expected to provide psychological interventions for clients open to our service within their skill set and supervised by qualified psychologists within the team :
Support specialist assessments
Assist in clinical related administration
and will need to utilise data and research skills for audit, research and service development.

Qualifications
Essential
- An upper second class honours degree or higher in psychology Entitlement to graduate membership of the British Psychological Society
Desirable
- Further post graduate training in relevant areas of professional psychology, mental health practice and/or research design and analysis
Knowledge and experience
Essential
- Work with people with mental health problems and/or learning disabilities ,An understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with mental health problems or other disabilities An ability to apply existing psychological knowledge to a mental health context An understanding of psychology applied to mental health care
Desirable
- Experience using computers for databases or data-analysis, especially SPSS for Windows High standard of report writing Experience of paid work in direct care provision that have a number of Mental Health and social needs To have an understanding of the complex needs of people with an eating disorder diagnosis Previous experience in an assistant psychology post
