We're looking for a variety of practitioners with differing levels of experience.
CAMHS offers young people and families a range of assessments, direct work, therapeutic interventions and we work as a close multi disciplinary team towards a common goal for the child and young person.
The Bath and North East Somerset (BaNES) community CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) is looking for either a Band 6 clinician or a Band 5 wanting to explore a developmental role.
If you join us a Band 5 Mental Health Practitioner, we'll be here to support you through development of our diverse and nurturing team over the course of 12 months. You'll be part of a team who will train you, share our expertise and guidance, for you to progress to securing a Band 6 - Senior Mental Health practitioner position.
Or, you may are an experienced Social Worker, Nurse, or Occupational Therapist, and wish to join us as a Band 6. Main duties of the job
In this role, you'll work with other clinicians providing, support, assessment and treatment options for young people accessing the service in a number of child/family led ways and part of a team of physiatrists, psychologist, family therapists, nurses, OTs, Support workers and many other professionals, The role requires collaboration with the multi agency professionals supporting the young person to facilitate a package of care whether this is via external agencies or accessing support from CAMHS.
The role will involve both working in a clinic, (based in Keynsham) and in the community settings where young people might be comfortable to be seen.

This is a great opportunity to build confidence, skills, knowledge in child and young peoples mental health. BANES CAMHS is a well established team with strong leadership, who are enthusiastic to support and develop new members of the team. Both roles are supported with regular clinical, managerial and safeguarding supervision. The Band 5 developmental role will be supported with clear goals and actions in order for a successful candidate to professional develop and progress to Band 6.
In BSW we have a strong commitment to staff development and progression. Over the last year we have developed a comprehensive CAMHS specific training programme for all staff at all levels. Our training programme includes multiple internal trainings relevant to CAMHS, it also links with external funded trainings including DBT, motivational interviewing, coping skills, mentalisation based therapy, systemic practice and many more. Managers work closely with all staff to ensure they have the right trainings to enable them to confidently and competently deliver high standard interventions to children and young people.
We offer all new starters a comprehensive local induction pack with a week by week guide to support your familiarity and understanding of the team/s.
Other key responsibilities include:
- To offer assessment, treatment and care planning for young people coming into the service under both short term and longer term packages of care.
- Work collaboratively with parents/families/carers to promote the emotional and physical wellbeing of the child/young person.
- Assessing risk in collaboration with children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties, significant others, and other workers/professionals, alongside use of own professional judgment and team processes.
- Identifying and engaging with practitioners with specialist knowledge to support decision making.
- At a Band 5 you will work jointly with a senior practitioner with an education provider and any other agencies involved in supporting the emotional and physical wellbeing of the young person. As a Band 6 you will be supported to work independently with other agencies.
- Confidently signpost to other appropriate resources within the community.
- Skilled and constructive use of own supervision sessions, engagement in reflective practice, commitment to continuously develop self-awareness and work appropriately within professional boundaries.
- Participate in clinical meetings and case discussions when deemed appropriate and within the scope of the SPA.
- Maintain contemporaneous records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols.
- Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service.
- To work closely and build positive working relationships with a range of agencies across health, education and social care (including the voluntary and community sector) as well as across teams within Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust as appropriate.
- To liaise regularly with clinical teams to collaborate and develop/provide integrated services.
- To participate in meetings relevant to service provision.
