Job summary

If so, join us to train to become a Podiatry Assistant and gain an Assistant Practitioner Foundation Degree in Podiatry whilst you work.

The Podiatry Assistant post is a new and innovative route to 'Earn whilst you learn' and combines 18 months- 2 years of clinical employment, work based learning, and academic learning. It is a fully funded route towards an accredited qualification as a Podiatry Assistant.

We have multiple posts based across the whole county of Oxfordshire.

Main duties of the job

Podiatry Assistants are support workers specialising in the lower limb (feet, ankles, and legs), providing high quality clinical care to people of all ages. You will work to protect people's feet, providing preventative advice, care, assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a range of problems affecting the foot and lower limb.

You will have excellent communication skills, enjoy problem solving and wish to develop practical and intellectual skills to improve patient outcomes. You will be joining a dedicated podiatry team providing expert care to improve patients quality of life.

During your training you will develop skills and knowledge that will allow you to work in today's dynamic and changing healthcare environment. Whilst you will be based in one specific team, your placements will give you a variety of learning environments working across clinical placements to gain an appreciation of the different areas of the local healthcare service. The Podiatry Assistant Programme combines full-time employment, work-based learning and academic study. You will be patient facing from the very start - so that you can apply and develop your new knowledge and skills with increasing confidence.

Programme content

The academic part of the training will be remote learning provided by the University Centre South Devon over the 18 months - 2-year period.
