Job summary
This role forms part of the Quality and Governance Team (QGT) at Oxford Pharmacy Store (OPS).
OPS is an NHS wholesaler of pharmaceuticals operating across the whole of the UK.
The core function is to support the Head of Quality (HoQ) in maintaining the quality and governance strategy for Oxford Pharmacy Store (OPS), ensuring that the organisation meets the 'Good Distribution Practice' (GDP) quality standards required by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will gain both experience and skills/knowledge in relation to the pharmaceutical industry and quality and governance regulations that legislate.
The QGT are currently working flexibly in response to business need and Trust guidance, which includes both working on site and from home.

Job responsibilities
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or training Pharmacy Technician to join a dynamic, growing team that supports the effective supply chain management and supply of pharmaceuticals to UK healthcare providers.
Some of the responsibilities are:
- Assist the HoQ in ensuring compliance with the general conditions of the wholesaler dealers license and with the requirements of GDP (The standards of Good Distribution Practice are defined in legislation).
- Assist the HoQ in ensuring that all aspects of the quality system are implemented and maintained and that the pharmacy Store services comply with the Clinical Governance and Quality Assurance agenda of the Trust.
- To ensure that all activities within OPS are carried out in compliance with the Trust policies and regulatory requirements.
- Undertake regular audits of the quality standards as specified by the HoQ and support the HoQ in ensuring that any actions arising out of audits are dealt with in a timely manner.
- Write and amend Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relating to the quality system and ensure that Stores staff understand and work to these procedures.
- Report to the Management team on quality issues during monthly management meetings.
- Check and approve for return to saleable stock any medicinal product returned by a customer, according to the returns SOP referring any quality issues to the HoQ when required.
- Manage stock that requires quarantine; documenting the movement of stock in and out of quarantine and working with the HoQ to assign the fate of quarantined stock.
- Be involved in any decision to quarantine or dispose of returned, rejected, recalled or counterfeit products.
- Implement the Drug Recall procedure when initiated by the MHRA, pharmaceutical companies and others ensuring that patient safety is maintained at all times , quarantining stock as appropriate and liaising with suppliers to obtain replacement stock when necessary, this includes maintaining appropriate records and generating reports as required.
