Job summary

Are you an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist, who is pro-active, enthusiastic, flexible and above all an amazing communicator? Are you able to work in a fast-paced demanding environment contributing to the Rehabilitation of Older People within a Community Hospital Setting? Yes? Then call us to find out more about this role.

We are looking for an experienced clinician to join us to Clinically lead our fantastic Therapy Team at City Community Hospital and Bicester Community Hospital. You will need to be able to work at both sites.

Building effective relationships is essential as you will act as a central point of contact for expert knowledge and information for our MDT, patients, their families, and carers. Working closely with the MDT, acute, community and social care partners to ensure that barriers are removed, and problems solved, which allow us to provide an excellent Rehabilitation service and safe and timely discharge of patients.

Whichever profession you are from, you will work within your professional function, receiving appropriate supervision and using your unique skills to support both our patients and MDTs progressing our patients' rehabilitation journey through to discharge.

Main duties of the job

You will have an up to date, working knowledge of current processes and awareness of the challenges faced in this area. An understanding of safeguarding, MCA and continuing care criteria is essential in addition to a range of clinical knowledge to support you in this varied and rewarding role.

You will be also responsible for the operational management of your team and supporting their professional and clinical development.

Job responsibilities

Leadership - You will need good leadership skills to manage the therapy teams at Bicester and City Community Hospitals.

Time Management - This post is split across two sites so will require excellent time management skills and ability to prioritise tasks.

MDT Working - You will need excellent communication skills to work effectively with your team and the wider MDT. You will work alongside Ward managers, Matrons and the AHP Lead to ensure we are providing excellent Rehabilitation to our patients in Community Hospitals.

Management - You will provide Supervision to your Therapy Teams and will also provide Clinical Supervision to relevant professionals across Community Hospital sites. You will manage recruitment in your teams and ensure they are meeting all relevant standards of competency.

Clinical - You will provide clinical input to patients on the ward and will actively support the team with caseload management. You will regularly attend patient meetings including MDT, family meetings, complex case discussions and system delay meetings relevant to patient flow.

Provide Clinical and Professional Leadership to the Community Hospital Therapists working at City and Bicester Community Hospitals. You will have line management responsibility for Band 6 and Band 5 OT's and Physio's. You will also line manage a small team of Rehab Assistants.

You will work alongside the Ward Managers and Matrons to ensure the effective Rehabilitation process for inpatients within the Community Hospital Setting.

You will be an integral member of the large Multi Disciplinary Team working within the hospitals and will be actively involved with complex case management.

You will also work with our system wide partners ensuring effective patient flow through our service.

  • All new starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process, aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale
  • Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.
