CAMHS Clinical Psychologist - Link Programme

Job summary
This is a new senior post in a new development working from a mental health/neurodevelopmental perspective with children & young people with complex needs.
The post holder will work alongside clinical colleagues in a small team in Buckinghamshire as part of a wider associated development for the Thames Valley area (Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire). The development will be led by Oxford Health NHS FT following award of national 'Vanguard' status & associated funding from NHS England within the context of its long-term plan for children & young people.
The Thames Valley-wide programme for children and young people with complex needs is centred around the implementation of a practice framework known as the 'Framework for Integrated Care'. It is designed to improve outcomes for a cohort of vulnerable children and young people with complex needs who experience some of the highest levels of health inequality in society. Their needs are defined as 'complex', as they often are:
- multiple (i.e. not just in one domain, such as mental & physical health);
- persistent (i.e. long term rather than transient, including for example learning disability, autism or both);
- severe (i.e. not responding to standard interventions); and
- framed by family and social contexts (i.e. early family disruption, loss, inequality).
The framework focuses on trauma-informed practice, cross-agency working & achievement of consensus across professionals & family by clinical formulation.
Main duties of the job
Clinicians working within the new development will be involved in direct clinical work, interprofessional liaison & training. The scope of work & understanding of intervention will broader than that encountered within most existing CAMHS provision. In Buckinghamshire, clinicians will be co-located with a range of other services already working along the lines of the FIC frequently with young people with complex needs (CAMHS Crisis, Looked After and Adopted Children's team & Outreach). These services already have strong links with other teams across CAMHS, within children's social care, youth justice, education & the voluntary & community sector.The successful applicant will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of the flexibility and adaptability required from a service working with this group of children & young people. They will have excellent communication and interprofessional liaison skills & strong background experience in working with young people with mental health and neurodevelopmental needs in a range of different environments and settings.The successful applicant will be expected to support in every aspect of the service to ensure high quality service delivery to children, families and professionals. This will include contributing to, and writing up, multi-agency consultation and specialist assessments, supporting the Clinical Lead in service development and ongoing research, and will lead in the collation of outcome data for research and service evaluation.
