Job summary

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic clinician to support in continuing to lead the development of an innovative project within the Buckinghamshire, Oxford, and Berkshire (BOB) Integrated Care System.

The PEACE pathway project (Pathway for Eating Disorders and Autism developed from Clinical Experience) is the first of its kind nationally within children and young people's services and aims to improve the experience of care for young autistic people with eating disorders/difficulties.

We are looking for a skilled clinician to join the PEACE team across BOB for a six-month period (up to full-time 37.5 hours) fixed term role or secondment (with prior manager agreement) until the 31st of March 2024, pending potential extension dependent on future project funding.

You'll be based either at Raglan House, Oxford or Sue Nicholls, Aylesbury (this does include hybrid and flexible working) and will work in collaboration with clinical colleagues within local services for eating disorders and neurodevelopmental disorders, and from across the wider ICS.

Main duties of the job

We wish to recruit experienced clinicians with an interest in autism, eating disorders, healthcare innovation and/or research. We are looking for clinicians with enthusiasm to support the team in leading the implementation and collection of clinical outcome data, leading to published research.

The posts will sit within a passionate and experienced multidisciplinary eating disorder team and will develop strong links with neurodevelopmental pathways.

In addition to direct clinical work (assessment and intervention), this role provides service development and leadership opportunities such as, teaching, training, consultation, supervision, audit/service evaluation and research.

As part of this initiative, we can offer specialist internal and external training relevant to the job role and will consider flexible working patterns within core hours (8-6pm). Across Thames Valley, we currently offer a blended approach of clinic-based and home-based working.

We are a research active service and there are many opportunities to continue to develop both clinical and professional competencies within this role. The project has strong clinical leadership and full support of the PEACE team within the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Doctoral level training in clinical / counseling psychology including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.
  • Current registration with the HCPC as a Clinical / Counselling Psychologist
  • Formal training in supervision of other psychologists.

Desirable

  • Pre-qualification training and qualifications in research methodology, staff training and/or other fields of applied psychology.

Knowledge

Essential

  • Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management frequently requiring sustained and intense concentration.
  • Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
  • Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups
