We are looking for an experienced clinical lead with drive and enthusiasm, to manage and lead the community diabetes service in Oxford Health NHS.
Main duties of the job
As the Diabetic Specialist Clinical Lead you will provide expert guidance and ongoing support for the community diabetes nursing team within the Trust, as well as contributing to the wider diabetes agenda across Berkshire/Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire (BOB) ICB. You will also lead and deliver structured Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME) programmes to patients with Type 2 diabetes.
You must be able to work autonomously, as an independent prescriber with advanced clinical skills specific to diabetes.

- A keen interest in new and upcoming technologies within Nursing and Healthcare
- Be self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing initiative and promoting new ideas on how to improve the service
- Be compassionate, caring and creative with excellent communication skill.
- All new starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process, aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale
- Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments.

Essential
- Registered nurse with a Certificate/Diploma/Degree in diabetes care.
- Teaching cert./qualification.
- Non-medical prescriber (V300) or successful completion of course.
Desirable
- Formal leadership qualification.
- Masters level experience / qualification in relevant subject area.
Skills
Essential
- Demonstrates awareness of NHS reform and modernisation agenda in relation to Community Services and diabetes care.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work under pressure.
- Demonstrates a knowledge and understanding of relevant good practice in diabetes care.
- Demonstrates an in depth understanding of the Clinical Governance agenda, including the Care Quality Commission requirements and patient safety.
