The Thames Valley Forensic Mental Health Service is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Band 4 Health and Fitness Instructor to join its Low Secure Women's Service in Oxford. The successful candidate would be based on Thames House a 26-bed unit, and split between 2 wards, working with individuals detained under the Mental Health Act.

An informal discussion about the role or a visit is welcomed.

This post attracts RSU allowance of £1,466 per year on top of the basic salary.

Main duties of the job

As the health and fitness instructor you will be responsible for setting up and running the gym and sports programmes within the unit and developing sports and leisure links within the community. You will work with individual patients to support them in achieving their goals in relation to health and fitness and understanding of healthy living, including smoking cessation advice.
