We currently have a vacancy in our clinical mental health team for a Band 6 or 7 Clinical Pharmacist (depending on experience) providing a service in a variety of in-patient wards on our hospital sites.

We are a small and highly respected team that works closely with patients and multi-disciplinary professionals. If you are registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council and have experience in, or have a passion for mental health pharmacy, then we would love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

As a specialist mental health pharmacist, you will:

  • Be physically based on a clinical site in Oxford (the ability to travel between sites will be required).
  • Be responsible for the development of excellent clinical relationships with patients, carers and healthcare professionals, and supporting them with any medication issues that they might have.
  • Directly support our patients, prescribers, and other healthcare professionals in person, via attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings, carrying out medication reviews, taking part in discharge planning, and ensuring the correct application of national and local guidance for therapies involving medicines.
  • Support our dispensary hub based in Oxford as per rota.
  • Be a member of the on-call Pharmacist out of hours team as per rota.

About us

If applicable, the post holder will be encouraged and supported, to attain a post-graduate qualification in psychiatric pharmacy and membership of the College of Mental Health Pharmacy.

The Oxford Health Pharmacy & Medicines Management service employs approximately 80 staff, predominantly clinical pharmacists, and technicians, supported by dispensary and administrative staff. Clinical pharmacists and medicines management technicians are based on clinical sites, with supply and support functions at hubs in Oxfordshire.

The department provides services to our mental health in-patient and outpatient teams, including Forensic services, Learning disability services as well as community hospitals. Our Medicines Management Service is highly respected, and our staff are considered integrated members of the patient-focused multi-disciplinary teams in this Trust.
