Job summary

Northampton General Hospital has an excellent opportunity for a Stores and Kitchen Porter to join our catering team. This role is essential to the smooth delivery of patient food services and supports the work of our chefs in the Central Production Kitchen.

As Kitchen and Stores Porter, you will:

  • Be responsible for the transportation of food between patient catering kitchens and wards.
  • Carry out date labelling and stock rotation to ensure food safety and compliance.
  • Assist with a variety of tasks within the kitchen environment to support daily operations.

The receipt, storage, and distribution of goods, maintaining accurate records

Receive and check deliveries, ensuring quality, quantity, and accuracy against invoices.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Responsible, punctual, and flexible, with a strong work ethic.
  • Able to demonstrate excellent communication skills and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of hygiene and supporting patient care through safe food handling.

This is a vital role within our catering service, delivering patient essentials to ward and playing a pivotal role in meal delivery.

Food Safety & Compliance

Demonstrate awareness of Food Safety and work to the highest standards in both quality and hygiene.

Follow Food Safety and Health and Safety compliance, ensuring all Codes of Practice for Health, Hygiene, Safety, COSHH, and HACCP are adhered to.
