Job summary

We are looking for registered nurses who are wanting a new challenge and have a passion to do things differently, we are offering excellent opportunities for nurses to join us at this exciting time.

You will be responsible for the assessment and implementation of care for acutely unwell patients with an interest for Diabetes Care, General and geriatric Medicine. You will be part of a dynamic and exciting team making exciting changes that will affect the way the hospital is run from the front door and throughout.

To deliver exemplary nursing care to all patients presenting to at Northampton General Hospital whilst working within a team of dynamic and motivated healthcare professionals.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will participate in the delivery of high standards of care to patients and their families. In particular take responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating programmes of evidenced-based nursing care to a group of patients

They will participate in the management of the ward when required, ensuring smooth and efficient running in the absence of the Ward Manager or Senior Staff Nurse. They will take responsibility for their own self-development helping to provide a suitable learning environment and high standards of clinical practice. To recognise own limitations and seek advice and support from senior staff.

Patient/client care:

Assisting and contributing in the management and organisation of a ward / clinical area.

Actively contribute to setting and maintaining high standards of quality nursing care.

Actively participate in the education, development and supervision of other staff members.

Act as a clinical and professional role model, assessing and supporting students and learners on placement within the clinical area.

Work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to meet the needs of patients and their families.

Able to identify learning needs in self, negotiating a Personal Development Plan recognising own limitations.

Contribute to the education and training of others, gaining an understanding of clinical supervision.

Actively promote evidence-based practice within the clinical area and contribute to audit initiatives.

Adhere to all Trust Policies and Health & Safety, as applicable.

Financial & physical resources:

To develop and maintain an awareness of budgeting, exercising care and economy in the ordering and use of equipment, supported by written documentation where applicable.

To help maintain a suitable learning environment for staff and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor in the supervision and teaching of less experienced staff.
